Ore boat blasts a greeting to Duluth’s Aerial Lift Bridge
An ore boat blasts a greeting to the Aerial Lift Bridge operators at the world’s most inland seaport in Duluth, Minn., at the end of Lake Superior, the world’s largest lake. It’s an ideal place to admire both “salties,” the smaller ocean-going vessels, and “lakers,” the behemoth iron ore tankers that stretch to 1000 feet (or several football fields) long. The second, higher-pitched horn is the bridge operators answering the boat crew.

Riding my bike through Canal Park a boat was passing under the lift bridge so I pulled over to watch.
